Saturday, November 5th, the North Carolina Society of Historians held its annual awards banquet in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Imaging Specialists, Inc. was well represented this year- 5 books published by ISI won awards.

We won a Historical Book Award for Brinegar Cabin, An Historic Resource a reprint of Barry Buxton’s Historic Resource Study produced for the National Park Service.

Connie Miller’s Winds of Harmony and Healing, My Journey Home by Meachele Mothership Montgomery also received a Book Awards, as did the reprints of the 1947 and 1949 Sparta High School Yearbooks, we produced for Alleghany Historical-Genealogical Society.

Imaging Speicalists was recognized with a Publisher’s Award this year, as well. Only two were awarded out of 14 eligible entries.

We received two Multimedia Awards: one for the 2016 Edition of Emma Jean’s Blue Ridge Almanac and another for the photographic exhibit, Alleghany Images, that we produced for the Alleghany Historical Museum in the fall of 2015.

The newsletter for the Alleghany Historical-Genealogical Society also won its eighth consecutive award from the NC Society of Historians. Imaging Specialists publishes the AHGS quarterly newsletter.

We’re famous!

Barbara Norman has reviewed our new book, Brinegar Cabin: An Historic Resource in the latest issue of Yadkin Valley Living Magazine. And she could not have been nicer.

We’ve always loved Brinegar Cabin and have many good memories of family trips there, but Barbara articulates the experience of a personal visit better than anyone I’ve ever heard. (Except for possibly Dr. Barry Buxton, who authored the Historic Resource Study featured in the book.)

Star Route Books has just published Be Free, the much-anticipated follow up to Meachele “Mothership” Montgomery’s to Healing, My Journey Home.

Be Free follows Meachele on her trip along the Colorado Trail, and focuses on how she reacts to the various dangers she encounters during her 36-day adventure in the summer of 2015. The inspirational story features a theme of overcoming abusive situations.

Be Free is also a photographic record of the journey and it includes over 100 color photographs in its 180 pages.
Meachele’s first book, Healing, My Journey Home, published in 2015, was the story of her 2011 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail after the loss of her husband. Meachele received her trail name, “Mothership,” on that trip.

Both books are 6” x 9”, softcover, designed and developed by Imaging Specialists, Inc., in Sparta, NC, and released through ISI’s imprint: Star Route Books.
